These are Butterfly Headdresses. I recently mailed 25 of them to girls at a rape rescue center in Nairobi, Kenya.
While in Kenya recently, I visited them and shared my story of being a refugee, an immigrant and how that experience influenced my life. I shared my belief that it is the stories we create about our experiences that direct the trajectory of our lives.
Owning our personal narratives gives us power. They can each feel the joy of dressing up like a butterfly, especially during the upcoming world record-breaking Grand Butterfly Event on June 29, and sharing the beauty of their transformation with the world.
